Bulding on the popularity of RWRDS Canada's user generated confirmed mulitplier lists for several Points Earning Machine credit cards we are pleased to now offer it for the third and final Points Earning Machine, the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card. This list us especially pertinent now as some, but not all, purchases made outside of Canada are now earning the card's accelerated earn rates of 3x and 5x points. This is in addition to not charging any Foreign Transaction fees! So not only can you save 2.5% on average over other cards but you can be earning up to a 5% return in points even though it technically should only be 1% (1 point/$)
Just like the other multiplier lists we have, this one will rely heavily on the RWRDS Canada community contributing the details of the merchants where they have earned 1x, 3x, and 5x points from around the world. (A big thank you to long time RWRDS Canada community member Jim M. for providing the first locations!)

Accelerated earn rates outside of Canada ARE NOT guaranteed
With the above being said it has to be stressed that not all merchants outside of Canada are coding "improperly" as the RWRDS Canada community have already let us know it is hit and miss. Some dining establishments are showing up as 5x points while others are coding properly at 1x points.
At no time should you consider the accelerated earn rates of 3x points and 5x points as guaranteed. Scotiabank and RWRDS Canada do not guarantee them nor will we be held liable if you do not earn the accelerated rates even if they show up in the merchants listed below.
Multiplier submission spreadsheet
We have created a Google Sheets spreadsheet for our community to use to contribute the multipliers. It should make the submission process easier for both you and me! You can find the spreadsheet here. (If you don't want your name tracked in the changes by Google Sheets simply log out of your Google account before submitting, it will just show up as anonymous!)
You can help also contribute by commenting below or contacting us to let us know about new merchants or if a merchant changes.
Please note that merchants may change at any time so while a merchant may be listed in one category when you read this page it is entirely possible that they switch categories before we are able to update it.

Quick tips for using the tables!
- !! Mobile Users !!: If you are viewing this page on mobile we recommend clicking the toggle icon so that the data is shown in card view
- You can search any data you like, the merchant name (ie East Side Marios), city (ie Vancouver) and so forth!
- If you are searching by city or town name, the larger merchants who are Canada wide or province wide will not show up in the results. For larger merchants it is better to search by their name rather than location
- If your desired result doesn't display, it doesn't necessarily mean the merchant does not accept Amex. It could very well be that no one from the Rewards Canada community has shopped there and/or contributed it for us to add here. That means you can be the first do so!
- Click on the icon if you would like to view it as a full screen chart (a good option to view more rows at once)
- If you have sorted your search data and want to return to the initial results simply click on the refresh icon
- To reset the entire table simply clear the search box of any text
