Released in May 2023, the moi RBC Visa Card is the only co-brand card for Metro Inc's moi Rewards program. moi is the revamped and relaunched version of Metro&Moi and is the loyalty program for Metro, Super C, Jean Coutu, Brunet, and Première Moisson in Quebec as well Jean Coutu stores in New Brunswick and Ontario. Metro stores and Food Basics stores in Ontario will join the moi program later in 2024.
The review of the moi RBC Visa Card review is broken down into the following sections:
The moi RBC Visa Card is an entry level no annual fee shopping rewards credit card. It has some impressive accelerated earn rates for shopping at participating moi Rewards locations, dining, gas and EV charging. When combined with the moi Rewards loyalty card for purchases at moi Rewards locations it provides the ability to double dip as you will earn from the credit card and from the loyalty card.
The moi RBC Visa Card is a no annual fee card so there a no costs associated with it in that regard!
Right now it comes with an increased welcome bonus offer of up to 10,000 bonus points (Worth $80) when you are approved for the card and meet the spending requirements! 1
The bonus is awarded as follows:
The interest rate
on the card is 20.99% on purchases, 22.99%* on cash advances and balance transfers *21.99% if you reside in Quebec and there is not set annual income requirements to apply for the card.
The card earns moi Rewards points as follows:
In addition to the points earned from the credit card you’ll also earn your standard 1 point per dollar for showing your Moi loyalty card at participating moi Rewards retailers.
Spending Category | Points earned per dollar spent | Rate of return when redeeming at checkout at participating moi Rewards stores |
---|---|---|
Dining, Gas, EV charging | 2 | 1.6% |
moi Rewards stores and all other spending | 1 | 0.8% |
Redeeming points from earn on the moi RBC Visa Card is easy! Points are redeemed at a rate of 125 points to $1. There is one redemption choice and that is using your points at the till or online when you are making a purchase from a moi Rewards participating retailer. Those retailers are Metro, Jean Coutu, Super C, Brunet and Premiere Moison.
The moi RBC Visa Card does not have features or benefits that are specific to it. However, the card does come with the standard features and benefits that RBC provides on most of their cards:
As with all RBC cards the moi RBC Visa Card receives RBC Offers. These exclusive limited time offers are sent out to cardmembers to receive statement credits, discounts or bonus points for using their card at select merchants. You can learn more about this feature in Rewards Canada's Guide to RBC Royal Bank 'RBC Offers'
RBC also provides some exclusive benefits for all their credit cardholders with select retail partners in Canada. For the moi RBC Visa Card those benefits are:
Link your Petro-Points card to your new RBC credit or debit card and use it to pay for purchases at Petro-Canada to always:
Save 3 ¢/L on gas with every fill-up
Earn 20% more Petro-Points
The moi RBC Visa Card comes with basic purchase insurance that includes the following:
The accelerated earn rate of 2 points per dollar spent on Dining, Gas, and EV charging. This works out to a 1.6% return on spending which is excellent for a no fee card.
The ability to double dip at moi Rewards stores by earning the points on the credit card purchase as well as points awarded for scanning your moi Rewards loyalty card.
The current welcome bonus of up to 10,000 points which is worth $80 towards your purchases at moi Rewards stores.
The savings and extra points for using the card at Petro-Canada.
The base earn of 1 point per dollar which works out to a 0.8% return. That's about the middle of the road for no annual fee cards with others in market having base earn rates as high a 1.5% or as low a 0.25%.
Being tied into a single program with limited redemption options may not be good for some. There are competing cards which offer straight cash back that you can use any way you like or have flexible reward options from travel to cash back to merchandise and more.
No additional features or benefits beyond standard RBC offers and the Petro-Canada partnership
Relatively weak insurance benefits. The shopping coverage provided is good but there are comparable no fee cards that provide additional insurance such as car rental CDW and other travel coverage.
The moi RBC Visa Card is great card option for those living in Eastern Canada's who are frequent Metro shoppers and want a no fee card to help accelerate their earning in the moi Rewards program. With grocery prices continuing to rise one way to combat those increases is to save at the till with a grocery focused loyalty program like moi Rewards and tying in a moi credit card can help to bring those costs down.

Annual Fee: $0 | Additional Card Fee: $0 | Interest rates: 20.99% on purchases, 22.99%* on cash advances and balance transfers *21.99% if you reside in Quebec.
