Lots of news tidbits this weeks and not so much in the

Alaska Airlines and Delta Airlines announced a marketing agreement that provides for the carriers to codeshare on each other's flights and allowing it's customers to accrue and redeem awards in either of the airlines' frequent flyer programs. Will Alaska Airlines become the next SkyTeam member? By having agreements with Delta and Northwest it sure would seem like the next logical step.
Continental is offering 10% off domestic reward flight until October 31 using there new online rewards booking engine. Book Standard Economy Class reward travel (Series 0) within or between the 48 contiguous United States, Alaska and Canada for only 22,500 miles.
Regional 1 is a new airline that will serve Central Alberta, offering Dash 8 service from Red Deer to Kelowna and Vancouver. Service will start on October 6. Regional 1 also plans to fly between Lethbridge and Vancouver, via Kelowna.

SkyTeam welcomed three new airlines into the alliance, Continental, KLM and Northwest officially joined on September 13. Combined with SkyTeam members Aeroméxico, Air France, Alitalia, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Korean Air the alliance serves 341 million passengers with 14,320 daily departures to 658 global destinations in more than 130 countries.
